RICARDO CERVANTES CERVANTES “TLAHUIZCALPANTECUHTLI” EL GORILA
Born in Mexico, Ricardo Cervantes Cervantes, grew up studying the traditional forms of his people in the Toltec community of Teotihuacan. Ricardo, who carries the Toltec name Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, is one of the spiritual leaders of his community who honors this sacred responsibility every day. Affectionately known as “El Gorila” among his community, the government was welcomed his efforts for the preservation of culture. The Consulate General of Mexico, Enrique Hubbard Urrea, recentrly endorsed him for being the only spiritual leader of Latin America invited as an ambassador at the “Seeds of Compassion Conference” in Seattle, USA, where he held a blessing and prayer exchange ceremony with His Excellency, The Dalai Lama. He was the founder of the Toltec Cultural Center of Teotihuacan A.C. and Autoctona Dance Group Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli Teopanacazco.
The Cultural Center aims to preserve and teach the indigenous cultures of Mexico with an emphasis on the Toltec Teotihuacan culture. They do this by teaching art from this millenary culture to children, adults, and tourists, and it has trascended in their hometown community.
