TAITA JULIO MUÑOZ
Born in the municipality of Puerto Leguizamo, Putumayo, Central Amazonas
Part of the Muruy people, Taita Julio Muñoz is immersed in the knowledge of the sacred plants the “Ambil” and the “Numairike”.
He founded Tukunare’s Resguardo in the eighties, and was its first Governor for eight years. Likewise, he was Governor for one year of the Lagarto Cocha community, President of the Association of Indigenous Councils of the Alto Resguardo Predio Putumayo (ACIALPP) and was Director of the Yai Runa Organization (Yai-Sabedor, Runa-Gente) for three years in the management of Health and Medicine of the indigenous communities.
Now as part of his spiritual journey, Taita Julio helps to San Agustin, Huila with a ceremonial and sacred center called “Casa Yaruna” to promote the ancestral knowledge of indigenous peoples of Colombia, for the world to know.
